It doesn't take a genius to figure out that fighting gay and lesbian rights is, in the long-run, a losing cause.   So why fight a loosing battle.   Here's the answer from the con-artist's perspective:   

First of all,  we (the super-wealthy manipulators) don't do any fighting.    We con others into doing the fighting for us.   

Second, the Anti-Gay controversy keeps people fighting instead of cooperating.   It keeps people anxious.   It's divisive.  It separates people and it diverts their attention away  from taking care of themselves and each other.   And it keeps them from questioning our authority.   And the third answer is money.

It's a Multi-billion-dollar Business

How to Win While Losing:

The Christian right wing (i.e. the fundamental Christian leaders and the hierarchy of the Roman Catholic Church) have consistently come down on the losing side of social issue after social issue and yet they adamantly continue to do battle with everyone else on issues that they know that they will eventually lose.    

One has to ask these questions:  "WHY all the fighting?"   They are obviously not in the fight to win the battles, so what is it that they are after?   What is it that really counts?   One might also note that the Universal Law of Thought ˛ tells us:  "To fight something is to feed it universal energy and make it stronger."  So why are they empowering something that they claim they don't want?

Do you recall these maxims?

1)   "If you want to know what's really happening regarding any issue on the entire planet, simply follow the money trail."

2)   "People always act in a manner they believe is in their own best interest."

Money and self-interest are the answers to our questions.   It's not winning the battles that count.  It's all the money, prestige, publicity, and political power they gain during the fight.   It's their way of manipulating, motivating, inspiring, and controlling their followers.   It's also a way to attract new followers.   Here's the plane and simple answer:   Controversy Sells!   And it's a multi-billion dollar business.
